Being a "True Blooder" I just couldn't resist making something special for Sookie when she does get to hitch up to that vamp of hers-

Ahhh yes-true love-Bill and Sookie style...and what would a woman about to marry the vampire love of her life want for her wedding? Red and black of course-but something as feminine and sweet as Sookie is herself...

Presenting our first intrepretation of a True Blood inspired wedding set: First, a 6 x 6 ring pillow made from sheer, romantic black mesh with flocked roses slightly kissed with gold, tied with a blood red ribbon, red and deep black maribou feathers, black and red rose petals and a touch of pearl and bling in the center of the flower. Black ring ties complete the pillow.

Next, 2 gorgeous garters, one to keep and one to toss, both made from the same beautiful fabric, also with black and red feathers, rose petals and matching center flower bling. The upper and lower edges of each garter have been scalloped for a sweetly feminine look.

Last we have a matching hair comb, perfect to put in your hair while you party the night away. The comb has beautiful maribou feathers and a larger flower with both black and red in it, and a center made from pearls, crystals and a single large black center bead. Garters! Garters! Sets!!

Yes--we are running late on the rollout of our garters. The weather here in Asheville has been RAIN RAIN RAIN and while we can sure use it, photographing a natural setting in the rain has been impossible!



So, rain or no rain, today we photograph-inside if necessary-and rollout our collection on September 18.

Time to Get Colorful!

Nothing is more inspiring for me than sitting on the floor surrounded by colorful fabrics. When I'm low on inspiration-I open up the trunks and bins and start to rummage and in no time...an idea is born....

Today's idea is lavender, purple and pink....maybe some pearlyivory, whiteish something thrown in............... cupids....and gold....renaissancey cupids.......save that for tomorrow!

New Ring Pillow-Blood Ties- A Tribute to Vicki & Henry

Before "True Blood" there was Henry FitzRoy and Vickie Nelson from "Blood Ties." An almost love story, between Vicki Nelson,a soon to go blind cop turned private detective and Henry FitzRoy, the illegitmate son of Henry VIII. Yes, that makes Henry almost 500 years old and a vampire. The series, made in Canada, ran for 2 seasons on Lifetime and was cancelled. But in those 2 seasons-what chemistry they had!

"Darkest Passion" is a bit of a tribute to the fictional Henry and Vicki. In a nod to the real Henry FitzRoy's history (Henry FitzRoy, 1st Duke of Richmond and Somerset (15 June 1519–23 July 1536) was the son of King Henry VIII of England and his teenage mistress, Elizabeth Blount, the only illegitimate offspring that Henry acknowledged) I chose a black and silver Renaissance brocade and black satin for the heart shaped pillow. It features 2 flaming hearts on either side of the front of the heart. One, in red beads for Henry the vampire and the other in crystal and pearls for Vickie. The beading carries down to a joining and comingling of the colors until we reach the silver cross. In Henry's case, neither a cross nor silver had any affect on him and in fact, he was quite religious wearing a cross at all times.

Around the perimeter of the heart is black scroll gimp accented with beads of the blended colors. The pillow measures about 8 inches across and about 10 inches in length.

This ring pillow is truly a one of a kind, not your ordinary ring pillow, never to made again. The design is copyrighted to Shabee Stitches so you know that no one will ever have one like it. For a touch of the mystery of forbidden love, "Darkest Passion" is for you!

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT INSPIRED ME:

The short lived series "Blood Ties" and the almost love story of Henry FitzRoy and Vicki Nelson, based on the Blood books by Tanya Huff are the inspiration for this ring pillow.

Vicki Nelson is a former police officer, turned private investigator. After being diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, Vicki faced the hard choice of leaving Homicide Division in the police department and working a desk job or leaving the police force all together. Despite strong protests from her partner and lover, Detective Mike Celluci, she decided to leave the force and open a private investigation firm. Though her vision does prove to be a problem at times, Vicki refuses to let anyone treat her like she is disabled and continues to take risks with her life throughout the course of her investigations. As a result of leaving the force, her relationship with Celluci has become on-again/ off-again. Meanwhile, her growing attraction to Henry only fuels to the complications in her love life, putting her in the center of a supernatural love triangle.

The character Henry FitzRoy (b. June 15, 1519 d. June 18, 1536 reborn June 19, 1536) is based on the historical character Henry FitzRoy, 1st Duke of Richmond and Somerset - born the bastard son of, and eventually recognized as the legitimate heir to the throne of, Henry VIII of England, Henry Fitzroy chose love over familial duty and sacrificed his mortal life to remain forever with the woman he loved; Christina. Vampiric circumstances, however, prevented him from remaining with her and now, after 450 years of existence, he is living in Toronto as a graphic novelist - "Art and literature have always been my passions. This beautiful ring pillow starts with a base of white bridal weight peau de soie (delustered satin). Then we added beautiful Vienese lace around the perimeter in a gorgeous black art deco lotus. The lace extends over the edge of the pillow to the back to give it a border of mini lotus flowers. OOAK Valentine's Day Ring Pillow-NEW!!!

Named for a lovely, mysterious Cajun Vampire, Vicereine© is a one of a kind slightly vampy, slightly gothy, slightly steampunk, slightly Victorian one of a kind heart ring pillow for Valentines Day-2009.

It's a georgous shade of red-actually a red and black crossdye silk dupioni that's really pretty much crimson red and has a wonderful shine to it.It's trimmed in pleated black lace that has tiny knife pleats at the top and spills out into a wonderful black halo around the heart. Then we have a layer of handmade beaded black and crimson red fringe with tiny teardrops at the ends. The fringe is about 1 1/4 inches long. Over that we have Chinese Gimp in black.

Finally, we have heavy black Venise Lace laid over the heart with aurora rhinestones highlightling the piece. The ring ties are made from organza ribbon and secured to the heart by a crimson red rhinestone similiar to the one in the center of the center-most floral.
